@WomenEdJersey

Full Description

This International Women's Day join WomenEd Jersey to celebrate and #EmbraceEquity as future and current leaders.

Our focus "Leading with Courage" recognises the strength we have seen demonstrated by female leaders over the past two years- years which have seen women experiencing greater negative effects than men, particularly in relation to juggling childcare/domestic work and paid work (McKinsey & Co., 2020). We will celebrate the contribution of all women in education and discuss how we can embrace equity as leaders.

This event will take place at Highlands Academy and is charged nominally in order to encourage attendance. Please do not book a ticket if you cannot make it, as we will be ordering food for the event. All funds raised will go towards the DEC Turkey/Syria earthquake appeal(https://www.dec.org.uk/appeal/turkey-syria-earthquake-appeal). Canapes and a welcome drink will be provided by the amazing team at Highlands Academy.

A huge thanks to Jo Terry-Marchant for supporting this event and providing a venue

4.15pm: arrival and drinks

4.30pm: Welcome from Jo Terry-Marchant, Principal of Highlands College

4.35pm: We are delighted and honoured to have Jennifer Carneige as our keynote speaker this evening. She will talk about the courage she found during her leadership journey and the challenges she has had to overcome. More details on our keynote speaker can be found on our Twitter page @WomenEdJersey. Following Jennifer's thought-provoking speech will be the opportunity for Q &A

5.15pm: Our second speaker of the evening is Catherine Precious, Headteacher of JCG Prep. She will share her leadership journey and explore the IWD theme of embracing equity.

6.00pm: A short update from Maggie Eldridge-Mortzek on the local story of the gender pay gap. The last report indicated that education had the biggest pay gap in GOJ of around 20%. Is this still the case?

6.15pm: We will end our session with canapes and drinks, care of the fantastic catering staff at Highlands Academy, followed by the awarding of the WomenEd Jersey 10% Braver award- a prize which is awarded to a female leader who has embodied the spirit of WomenEd, lifting and supporting female leaders in education in Jersey. This will be an annual award offered each year on our IWD event.

NB: Please note that you can nominate someone for this award when you book your ticket.
