#WomenEd Frankfurt: Child Safeguarding in International Schools

Summary: In 2014, it emerged that a serial abuser had worked in multiple international schools over a 40-year period. Since then, there has been a concerted effort by the international school community to standardise and enhance safeguarding practices. Leila Holmyard will present her upcoming PhD research study into how international schools meet and maintain child safeguarding standards in diverse geographical settings. In breakout rooms, participants will have the opportunity to discuss the questions of the study, and share challenges and successful strategies.

Biography: Leila is an independent education consultant for a number of international schools and organisations, including Faria Education Group, Frankfurt International School, the Council of International Schools and the Walworth Barbour American International School. She previously taught in Saudi Arabia and Vietnam, and is now based in Germany. Leila is currently pursuing a PhD in Education with a focus on safeguarding in international schools.
