As we RISE!

Sisterhood. Empower. Elevate. Inspire. Motivate

'You may write me down in history with your bitter, twisted lies,

You may trod me in the very dirt,

But still, like dust I rise.' Maya Angelou

Laughter, tears, joy and absolute astonishment were just a few of the emotions that consumed my body, mind and soul after attending a recent #IamRemarkable workshop with none other than the lovely and empowering @Ethical_Leader Hannah Wilson.

Everyone wants to make a dent in the world either personally or professionally. For me making the decision to participate in the #IamRemarkable workshop is a decision I would remember for the rest of my life. As a workshop facilitator for #IamRemarkable Hannah Wilson set out to provide an engaging setting for women who desire to transform their lives, the community, and the world! The group of women that attended our workshop was inclusive of women from various cultural and ethnic backgrounds, women making waves within their industries, who came to share their testimonies, find a voice, advice and resources and leave the workshop 10% braver!

These very powerful women, including myself, shared inspirational stories of their triumphs and tribulations encountered on their road to success. I was particularly moved by the openness of the speakers. Some of these women including myself have been struggling to find our voices and becoming 10% braver for years. But by opening up and sharing our stories I think we were all able to connect with each other on a personal level. We may not have all lived the same exact stories but we somehow still share similar stories of pain and hardships, feeling like we didn’t belong, imposter syndrome, self-doubt and feeling less competent than our male counterparts.

“Individually we’re impressive, but together we’re unstoppable”

I think the biggest take away from that workshop for me was knowing that I am not alone. I have my struggles and deep, dark rooted issues but listening to these powerful women share what they’ve gone through reminded me that I am not alone in this.

No matter what struggles I’ve gone through and still going though, I will be able to push through as time progresses. We can rise, persevere and stand in our power, despite any hardships, struggles or pain and I am determined in my pursuit to lead a life of change dedicated to wellbeing, protecting young children and girls and raising awareness of inclusive practices.

Become HER.” Kaci Diane

The moment I found out the themes for the recent #WomenEd global conference I applied to be a speaker, not knowing how it would turn out or how brave I was back then when I did, but I was determined to get involved in such a movement. I am so glad I did. Having been through a challenging end of the school year with COVID and all its after effects, flexible working/living futures was at the forefront of my mind. Aha! I said I will pitch my piece to speak about that!

Being invited to be part of the panel of speakers in the #WomenEd global conference on Sunday 4th October was one of the most remarkable events for me this year and I know I could not have done it had I not been influenced by Hannah’s coaching. It was also one of those moments when I knew there was no turning back. Leading up to the conference I gave myself a thousand reasons why I couldn’t do it. Then I remembered reading this quote I had sent out on Instagram a while back:

'Don’t worry about failures, worry about the chances you miss when you don’t even try.'  Jack Canfield

Being 10% braver, learning to own my accomplishments and be proud of them takes some getting used to. But I know that I am on the right track because I choose to surround myself with people who inspire me to grow and develop, but most of all people who believe me. After all…

'It's not boasting if you can back it up.' Muhammed Ali.
